The economic ties between Ghana and Uganda have been deepened following
Otumfuo’s fruitful meeting with the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni
and the Kabaka, Roland Muwenda Mutebi II, at Kampala, the capital of
Uganda.
The memorable meeting, held at the presidential palace at Kampala,
particularly centered on steps to be taken to help deepen Ghana/Uganda
relations, especially in the areas of business.
The meeting also centered on specific areas that Ghana and Uganda can
collaborate on to develop and create wealth to the mutual benefit of
their people.
Otumfuo, in particular, was said to have stressed on the need for
African countries to collaborate to eradicate poverty, disease and
ignorance on the continent.
The Asante King also highlighted on a number of social interventions
that Ghana had adopted in recent times to expedite the country’s
progress and to improve the lives of the people.
Known for his passion for the development of education on the African
continent, Otumfuo also stressed on the need for education to be made
accessible to every African child, to give them a secure future.
The Asante King was in Uganda for five days as the special guest of
honour of a memorable durbar to commemorate the 25th coronation of the
Kabaka of the Buganda Kingdom.
As characteristic of him, Otumfuo used his visit to explore common areas
that Ghana and Uganda can closely work on for their mutual benefit. He
visited a pharmaceutical company during the visit.
The Asantehene’s entourage included the Council of State Chairman, Nana
Otuo Serebuo, the Juabenhene and other prominent paramount and
divisional chiefs from Asanteman.
