Four suspects have been picked-up by joint military and police team in
connection with the attacks on the CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital,
Dr. David Azaawumya Akolbila.
Dr. David Akolbila on Monday 13th August 2018 was chased out of his
office by some NPP youth believed to be affiliated with Kandahar boys.
Workers of the hospital are currently on sit down strike in solidarity with the attack on their CEO.
People who visited the hospital to access health care today were turn away as a result.
Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, ASP
Yusif Tanko said the suspects were arrested at Kandahar boys based in
Aboubo a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis.
“We managed to round up four persons. For now, we are not certain
whether they are part of the suspects we are looking for or not but we
have invited the Chief Executive Officer of the Teaching Hospital to
come and help us with identification,” he explained.
ASP Tanko said “Investigations are ongoing, we are going to screen them
and if any of them is found to be part of those who went to the
hospital to cause the trouble he will be prosecuted” Meanwhile, there is
man-hunt for the suspended communication member of the NPP Mr. Baba
Alhassan who spoke on behalf of the Kandahar boys during the attacks on
the CEO.
Mr. Baba Alhassan threatens that If the CEO is removed of his office,
they (Kandahar boys ) will continue attacks on the hospital .
